Effective PSHE education can contribute to the Ofsted Framework (2012) judgement of Behaviour and Safety of pupils and Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development.
With Ofsted’s report into PSHE education published on 1st May 2013, it is timely for you to consider future CPD requirements for your staff so that they may contribute towards better outcomes for your children and young people at school.
Continuing professional development is available for school staff and governors, individually or in groups, to support the more challenging areas of the Health and Wellbeing education and PSHEe curriculum. Training can include:
- the importance of creating a safe, learning environment;
- how best to manage discussions of a sensitive nature and answering questions; and
- demonstrating some active teaching and learning for engaging lessons.
Training can be delivered as twilight staff meetings (up to 90 minutes), half-day or full day INSET.
